Thiviers
THIVIERS, A CAPITAL IN GREEN PERIGORD
Built on Puy to 276 meters, dominating largely a hilly and verdant hollow in which bask rivers, Thiviers has always been considered a place of passage, a place to live. Providing a natural transition between the Limousin and the great North province of Aquitaine in south Thiviers is a gateway to the south of Parc Naturel Régional Périgord-Limousin.
THIVIERS TODAY
Mainly agricultural region which has diversified its activities, livestock, grain crops, walnut groves, etc.., THIVIERS has a large weekly market where all the local products are offered. This market is held every Saturday morning throughout the year, modernized in the interests of hygiene, he nevertheless kept the flavor of the Great South West markets. THIVIERS undoubtedly deserves its title of "FATTY LIVER CAPITAL IN PERIGORD GREEN". Already, since the ancient times our ancestors trapped wild geese and our good city worshiped these migratory greedy.
And the tradition continues every Saturday morning from mid-November to mid-March, a major market bold stands in the city center offering first quality merchandise (geese, ducks, whole detailed, foie gras, truffles...). The season is punctuated by winning fairs, the most important FAIR OF KINGS, takes place in January. The fame of these markets attracts a loyal clientele increasingly important, often from neighboring departments.
